How to : Fix a Broken Eyeshadow.

Something horrible happened in my life yesterday. One of the eyeshadows  on my favorite palette broke. It's not a very expensive palatte, actually it's pretty cheap. It's the Downtown Browns from Black Radiance. But I really love those colors and I didn't want to see them on the trash.

So I got Youtube and Google to my rescue and found a very easy way to fix it. All you need is alcohol (gel or liquid - although liquid is better) and a clean piece of fabric. This method works for every type of powder makeup, it can be blushes, powder foundations or eyeshadows.

Step One: Get the broken eyeshadow and break it even more. Don't be scared, trust me, I'm not crazy.

Step Two: Pour a little bit of the alcohol. A LITTLE BIT. I suggest a couple of drops.

Step Three: The alcohol is going to mix with the broken shadow and you just press it together with the clean fabric (don't try with paper, it'll get messy).

Step Four: Wait until the alcohol evaporates and you're going to have your shadow back. Not as cute as it looked before, but just as functional.

After finding this out I got a little excited and did it in another broken blush that I had from Avon.

I hope this was helpful to some of you who have broken makeup in your cabinets and make a huge mess everytime you try to use it.

Have you tried this method ? If you have another way, please share it in the comments, I would love to know !

Everyday Makeup .

Every woman has their own everyday makeup routine adapted to her taste, budget and schedule. Some go all out with smokey eye and red lipstick, others just go with some sunscreen and lip balm and are out the door.

In my case, since I'm always late and always get stuck in traffic I take that time to put on some good music and do my makeup - We have really bad traffic in my city.

So today I decided to share what I do with my face everyday ! I like to keep it simple and natural, because I think it's more appropriate (my classes are usually in the morning) and also I don't have time to get crazy with the makeup, if I had I totally would.

To start with a clean face I wash it at home and moisturize with my favorite moisturizer of all times.

And then it's time for the makeup :

1. MAC Studio Finish Concealer

This one was my sister gave me because she bought the wrong shade for her and it seemed to work for me. I'm not a big fan for using it under the eye because it's a little bit too heavy, but it works if you set it with a powder. I use this one all over the face. It gives great coverage and it never ends, seriouly I had this product for years.

2. MAC Studio Fix in NW30

This is my holy grail product. I've been using this since I was 15 and it works wonders. Since it's my everyday makeup, I don't want something full coverage. This gives you a medium to full coverage and it lasts a decent time on the skin, I can't say it lasts the whole day. Anyway, I love this and I don't have anything bad to say about it, only the price it's a little annoying but I think it's worthy.

3. MAC Eyeshadow in All that Glitters

This one new purchase for me. I was walking around in the store, just browsing and the lovely lady asked to do my makeup. Since it was 12:00 in the afternoon I asked for a neutral look and she used this all over the lid and I fell in love. It looks so beautiful on the eyes and it gives you that awake look, the little boost that everybody needs in the morning.

4. Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express mascara

I think that everybody and their mother already heard about this mascara. I love it and I'm finishing it up, maybe you'll see it in a empties post soon.

5. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink

This is another product that I think it never ends. I've been using this everyday for a long time and it's still going strong. This blush very natural and gives you the right shade of flushed cheeks, being the perfect blush for an everyday use. I really like it.

6. L'Oreal Colour Riche Balm in Heavenly Berry

This Colour Riche Balms are AMAZING. Usually in my makeup I like to focus on the eyes and this balms give you the perfect lip colours to balance a strong eye. This one is in my everyday routine because it's moisturizing, comfortable on the lips and it gives you just the right amount of colour.

7. ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium

I love this kit. It comes with a colored wax and a powder to top it off. It makes my eyebrowns look both defined and natural, I'm not a big fan of blod eyebrowns. The eyeshadow or powder that comes in the kit, because it's matte, I like to use it on my crease. It frames your eyes in a natural and beautiful way, making them stand out more. And it also looks like you put much more effort in your makeup than you actually did.

This is just a simple makeup routine that works for me. Since I almost everyday have to do it on the car, I don't use any brush, just a small kabuki brush that I got from H&M for $2, wich I use for the powder foundation.

I hope this post gave you some ideas on how to changes things up in your everyday routine or maybe introduced you to some new products or just made you rediscover something that you already had.

Now I want to know about you, what is your everyday makeup routine at the moment ?

If you did a recent post or a video please let me know on the comments. I'm curious and I always like to know about new products.

Have a wonderful day and don't forget to subscribe in the sidebar or follow me on bloglovin' so you don't miss my new posts.

How to: Cut Your Own Hair

I first started to cut my own hair during my short period living abroad. I still had almost 4 months until I came back home and my hair was almost in my belly botton and the ends were just sad. It was definately time to cut it and my only problem was that a haircut in the South of France was about 50 euros (If you convert it to reais it's almost 150 reais) so I said, no thank you and went straight back to my room.

Since I had no other option and I wasn't doing anything interesting that night I thought : Why I don't do it myself ?

So after watching all the youtube videos that I could find about cutting your own hair, I finally took courage, got my kitchen scissors and went for it. The result wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it looked actually pretty nice, way better than my crazy lady hair from before.

Since the first time, I've cut my hair alone about 5 times and nobody has ever stopped me on the street and asked what the hell is wrong with my hair, so I think that I must be doing something right. Also I add some ombre highlights with the L'Oreal Paris Wild Ombre Kit, it's super easy to use and the results are pretty cool.

Keep in mind that my hair is naturaly straight and just a little bit weavy, so I like to add a lot of layers to give it some volume and structure. So if your hair is very curly or has a lot of volume maybe that's not the best method for you.

So if you're interested in the process that I do, here it is:

I start with my hair dry and bring everything in a very high ponytail at the top of my head. This will make your hair cut in layers, because the back and the front parts will be cut in a straight cut, so the back part is going to be a little longer that the front layer.

I also like to cut my bangs. They frame your face and they're the first thing people see when they're looking at you, so it's important to take some extra time with them.

After that I like to get some random layers and bring them up to the top of my hair and give it a straight cut as well. Just to give more volume.

And that's pretty much it. To finish I just wash my hair, let it air dry and after I go in with the straightner just see if I did some pretty big mistakes. And if I did, it's the time I take to fix them. An importante way to see if everything is in place and if the two sides match (maybe they don't match completely because you're parting the hair to one side, just keep that in mind) is to separete the hair in two sides and bring them close in the front.

I know that nothing replaces a professional, but these are just some tips and tricks if you're trying to save some money or of you just like doing things yourself.

I would love to know your opinions about this and if you also cut your own hair please share some of your tricks with us.

Thanks so much for taking the time read this. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to subscribe in the side bar so you don't miss the next posts !

The TMI Tag !

Since I just did 2 posts about traveling, I decided to change it up with a tag. And also who wouldn't want to answer 50 questions about themselves on the internet ?!

Hostel or Hotel ?

I do a lot of posts about traveling and my experiences. So today I'm gonna be talking about why I think you should choose a hostel instead of a hotel even if you have a small fortune to spare.

Firt of all, if you aren't familiar with the concept of a hostel I'm here to explain. It's quite similar to a hotel, the main difference is that you pay for your bed, not especifically for your room, therefore the price is going to be lower but you might have to share the room with some strangers.

Putting it that way it looks a bit dangerous and uninvinting. But in my opinion it's quite an experience, you just have to be careful and if you're a girl traveling alone try to look for rooms with only girls, some hostel give you that option.

This past New Year I was traveling with a friend through Europe and we decided to spend it in Berlin (amazing city). But because I decided it very close to the date, all the hostels were full and when I found a room in the same one as my friend I grabbed it without thinking twice.

Long story short, it was a mixed room and I had the bad luck of staying in a room with 4 man. After panicking a little and running to my friend's room saying that I would sleep in her bed, I went up to my room and started talking with the guys. And BIG SURPRISE they were all normal. They started talking about themselves and one actually had a brother leaving in Brazil. So we made friends with them and even went together to the party with the other people from my friend's room.

The moral of the story is that you shouldn't judge people before you know them and that staying in a hostel is better for making friends and other things, like :

  • Discovering all the best bars, pubs and parties in the city.
  • Cheaper beer and food- their bars are cheaper than the other bars in town.
  • Cheap accomodation. The first reason why people choose to stay there.
  • The convenience of having a bar close by. Sometimes you walk the whole day but yet you don't want to spend your nights inside the room even if you're very tired. The hostel bar is great place to go down for a couple of beers and go straight up when you're tired.
  • Friendly staff. Usually the staff of hostels is composed by young, funny and outgoing people.
  • Kitchen and laundry room. If you're traveling for a long time with only a backpack it's very handy to have a laundry room available for a reasonable price (smaller that a hotel, I think.) and you're problably tired of only eating burgers, so a kitchen to do some fast and cheap pasta is very good. In the Wombat's in Berlin they gave pasta and rice for free, to help out the straving travelers.
  • Overall a more young and laid back atmosphere. If you're very uptight I don't think hostels are the way to go for you.
Given the things I just pointed out, you may think it's a place only for young people. NONSENSE. Once in Firenze I stayed in hostel with my mom and my dad and we had a great time. Of course we got a room only for ourselves, but it was cheaper than paying a room in a hotel and they had the best pizza I ate in my life.

Athough staying hostel has it's many advantages, there are some things you should keep in mind, like:
  • Bring you own towel. Some hostels like The Yellow (very good) where I stayed in Rome charged a small fee for them.
  • Bring a GOOD locker. Sometimes they may give you a drawer or a small cabinet and presume that you brought your own.
  • Flip-flops. Even if you're traveling in the winter, they're handy because you will be sharing a bathroom with different people, so you never know..
  • If you're sleeping in a mixed room, sleep with pants. It's just safer for girls.
  • Lock you things even if you're just going to the bathroom.
  • If you see any strange people in your room, just ask the staff if they have other rooms to put you in. Hostels live for the reviews of the costumer, so they will be more than happy to make you feel safe. Also, I think that they are used to that.
  • Check the reviews online. People don't hesitate to share with the world what went wrong. But also you should have a filter when reading the reviews, because sometimes people can exaggerate and be really bitchy. Great sites that I think everybody knows are TripAdvisorBooking and HostelWorld.
  • Try to speak with the people in your room. Not just to make new friends, but also to see if you feel safe around them.
  • Trust your gut. It's better to be safe than sorry.
I believe that if you keep this things in mind you're going to have a good and safe experience in hostels. I know a lot of stories about hostels and creepy people but I think that if you're careful and just not freak out over everything you'll be alright.

So what's your opinion about hostels ? Do you think it's dangerous ? Dou think it's awesome ? Do you think it's only for young people ? Have you stayed in one ? Would you stay in one ?

Hope you enjoyed the post and found it helpful.
Thanks so much for reading and don't forget to give me your feedback, I love hearing from you.

Let's cross over : Monaco.

Being the teenager that I am, I was expecting to find myself inside the movie "Monte Carlo" along with Selena Gomez. BIG LET DOWN.

I went to Monaco while I was living in the South of Frace. Since I was in Nice, Monaco was only a bus ride (40 min) away. Because it was so close, me and boyfriend went there two times and I had a friend who went there almost evey week.

A lot of people don't know that Monaco is not a city, it's actually a principality  governed under a form of constitutional monarchy (thank you, Wikipedia.). So they have a Royal Family and the princess is brazilian, or her mom is brazilian I don't know the details but there's some brazilian blood there so, GO BRAZIL !

Now let's talk about what you want to know. Monaco is actually quite big, incredibly organized and clean. All the people look rich and sophisticated and I believe I didn't see anyone living on the streets and coming from Rio de Janeiro that really caught my eye.

But on the other side it kinda disappointed me, it's a little bit boring. There is not a lot of things to do, everything is expensive (orange juice for 7 euros ? No, thank you !) and we did a lot of walking (I'm not a big fan of walking.).

In my opinion the highlights are: the casino, the castle and the stores.

You might have noticed in the pictures that I'm not looking towards the camera. That's because it's strictly forbidden to take pictures inside the casino. So being the ninja that I am, I managed to get some stolen pictures from the inside, wich as you can see is absolutely beautiful. Having that said, the casino is not very exciting, there are a lot of old man playing for hours and hours and they have a lot of rules (although in my last trip I saw some pretty cute french guys) and VIP rooms.

Anyway, the place is beautiful and if you have fortune to gamble they seem to have all the apparatus required. But don't go expecting a Las Vegas environment.

Saying that I was happy about the expensive stores makes it look like I have money to spend there. I didn't even have money for the McDonald's (we brought our own lunch to do a picnic.).

Anyway I just really loved seing all that richness around me and those women shopping with their dogs inside the store (lovely !).

I only went to the Castle on our second trip to Monaco, problably because it required a lot of walking as I said before. But it's the one place I really recommend going. For normal people the walking is problably not that intense and the view is amazing. From there you go down through the other side as you pass through a beautiful church (where you can make Monaco coins as a souvenir -just like the ones in Disney- for 2 euros) and you get to walk along the lovely streets with little cafes and stores.

There you can also see the royal guards and the old weapons, as you can see in the pictures where my boyfriend is acting like a little adorable kid.

My advice if you are planning a trip to Monaco are :

  • If you're not rich, bring your lunch !
  • Get ready to walk.
  • No need to spend more than one day.
  • Only go there if you're already exploring the south of France. It's a lovely place, but it's not worthy going France only to see Monaco.

I really hope you enjoyed this little post about another destiny and if you're planning your trip hopefully this was helpful !

How to : More with Less (tips on saving money).

In my previous blog post I did a small observation that my boyfriend is not very stylish and his answer was : I don't have money, if I had I would be more stylish.. And my response was : Do you think I am rich ?

So I'm here today to give you guys a few tips on how to get the most out of your money. But one very important thing to keep in mind is that I'm not saying you shouldn't buy expensive things, I'm just saying that if you're going throug a period of thinner cows there are some things that you can do that might help.

Another thing is that of course a Chanel bag is going to last longer than a Forever21 bag, that's why they cost that much money (also because of status and all those rich things) and some people might even call them an investiment (not me). So if you're buying very cheap clothes, don't expect outstanding quality, sometimes you can cheat the system and get some quality items.

Shopping for Makeup ?

> Look for dupes : Youtube is full of videos of dupes. If you are not addicted to youtube like me and are not familiar with that concept, it's basically a video where youtuber's find lipsticks, eyeshadows or blushes similiar (sometimes an exact match) to high end products for less of the price. So if you don't have the money and really want a that color of lipstick do you really need it from MAC or Tarte ? Maybe you go with the Revlon and be just as satisfied. I mean, I get why people want the high end but sometimes we just can't afford it at the moment.

Some of my favorites are from Emily Noel's channel called Beauty Broadcast, here is one of her newest video on dupes.

> Coupons : If you live in a country where couponing is an option, go for it. Here in Brazil this not as popular as in USA, trust me after watching Extreme Couponing I tried.

Shopping for Clothes ?

> Shop Online : In my case this is the best option because clothes get very expensive here, so I opt for buying my staples like plain shirts or cardigas online. I didn't do a lot of exploring online yet. I bought from AliExpress and it worked so I kept going with it. But I know a few from reviews on youtube and online that you can try, I just can't give my opinion on them yet. Also online you can find more deals and discount codes.

But if you're like me and just enjoys browsing around in the stores and feeling the clothes in your hands (aaaah shopping just puts a smile on my face !) this may not be a good tip. If that's your case, limit your shopping trips to times where there are sales going on.

> Ebates : Now this one I don't really know how it works but my dad always says how much cash back he got with ebates to I thought I would mention if anyone is brave enough to try it.

> Sell your old clothes : If you sell the old you get money to buy the new. It's simple as that. I know everybody has that dress that they never wore and is just sitting on your closet colecting dust. So do your good action of the day and give it a good home so it can be loved again. A good website to do it is Ebay, and here is an article to help you out.

Shopping for Books ?

> Amazon : For me they always have the cheapest price and you can find everything.

> Audible : Everybody in the internet seems to be giving away one audible book for free so you can try it. I think that if you use their link they get a small comission, but that's good thing because you get your free book and help someone out.

I hope the post was helpful for you and if you have more tips please remember to share the love.

Why traveling makes you a better person.

Everyone that knows me knows that traveling is my thing. I've been fortunate enough to have an amazing family that loves to travel and also has the means to do so. So today I want to share a few things that I've learned in my trips not only with my family but also alone.

Makes you more responsable.

Even if you're traveling with your parents and your mom doesn't even let you hold your own passport (yep, my mom used to do that). Of course, when you're traveling alone your responsabilities are bigger, you need to take care of your money, your life, your documents, your belongings and even your health. Because if you don't, nobody is going to it for your and you're going to be fucked in another country alone. Bottom line: You learn to take of yourself,  the easy way or the hard way. Because if you don't remember stupid things like taking a jacket when it's cold or eating right, a cold, a fever or something worst will come to remind you to take care of yourself.

Makes you get out of your confort zone.

I don't know if it's the confidence that comes from not knowing the people around you (therefore they can't tell anyone you know what you did) or from being alone and acknowledging that if you don't get out of your confort zone and talk to people and do different things you're just going to be alone wasting your money and time in a city that you don't even know. So my advice here is DO THINGS, explore as much as you can, because you're never going to be as young as you are right now and life doesn't stop for anybody, so you never know if you're getting another opportunity like this.

Makes you smarter.

When I say smarter I mean all kinds of smart. You not only learn history, geography, languages and even math. When you live in Brazil and make money in reais (that's our currency, Real) you learn exchange rates like no other, in Mexico, for example, we had to make the conversion from Real to Dollar and then from Dollar to Mexican pesos. Anyway, you also learn to be street smart (I'm not sure if that's the best definition for what I'm about to say but just bare with me as I try to explain), you learn to sense if the street you are is dangerous, to pay more attention to people around you, to not assume that everybody is cool and honest, to always close your bag and keep it in your sight at all times. It's these things that in my opinion are just as important, if not more, as knowing that Picasso painted Mona lisa.

Makes you better at time management.

Planning a trip is no joke, guys ! Coordinating the time your airplane lands, the time that you can do the check in the hotel, the transport you're taking to get there, buying tickets, doing an itinerary. I'm tired just typing it and it gets more stressful when you have a tight budget like me. But although it can seem overwhelming sometimes, it's 100% worthy. There's nothing worst than arriving to a city and not knowing what you can do there or what it has to offer. Just so after you find out when you arrive home and sit your ass in front of the computer to explore the magic of Google.

Teaches you how to be alone and be ok with it.

Let's get personal, shall we ? I've always lived with my parents and we have a very good relationship. And although that's good it can be a little suffocating sometimes. So I was super excited to go to France and just be alone for a change. But as much as I liked to be alone, it's a little sad to sit down to have dinner alone with your computer. It takes time to learn to be alone and to realize that you're enough for you. That way company will be a plus in your life, not a necessity. And this is going to make you not only a better company for other people but also you're going to surround yourself with only good people, because you don't have that need to always be around someone, not matter if they're good or bad.

Teaches you how to make new friends.

Now this one I can totally and completely relate to. I sucked very bad at making new friends (now I suck just a little), I always felt nervous or I would create excuses not to go and talk to people. But one thing I realized is that if you don't talk to people they're not going to talk to you. I mean, it could happen but what are the odds that you're going to be in your hotel room and a very amazing person will knock on your door and say "Hi, I'm going out to a bar now, come along and let's be friends !" Let's just say very small. You have to create your own opportunities and realize that it's ok to talk to people, they might even surprise you.

That's exactly how I met my boyfriend, he was talking in the hallway with some people and me and my friend just said Hi and he invited us to a party. I'm NOT saying that you should go out with strangers that you met on the street, but we met in a student's residence and I was with a friend and everybody looked normal. But anyway, just be careful.

Makes you happier.

I don't know anyone that came back from Paris, Bali or London (and had a safe trip) feeling sad. It can happen, I just never saw it.

Makes you grow as a person.

I think this is the most important. You realize that the world is bigger than your city. We all know that there is a world out there, but when you actually see it and link an image to that thought amazing things happen. For me it made me more aware of other people and their needs, it made me help them when I can, it made me set higher goals to my life and appreciate more what I have. Because you can't aspire for something better if you don't even know it exists, you can't value the act of helping if you never needed help and you can't fully appreciate something until you don't have it anymore.

This are the reasons why I think traveling goes beyond just having a great time and not having to work. It's an experience that in my opinion everyone should have and if you have the time and the money right now I would say : What the hell are you waiting for ?

I would like to know what is your opinion about traveling. And just remember that your feedback is ridiculously important to me.
Do you think I'm crazy ? Do you agree ? Do you hate traveling ?

Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful day.

Empties ! #1

This morning when I was taking pictures of my trash I had a very hard time explaining to mom why I was doing it. After 10 min she just said : Ok, you do what you want to do !

So, I'm here doing what I want to do. I looove empties videos or blog posts. I don't know about you, but it just gives me a sense of accomplishment when I finish the products (Do I sound crazy ?), like I'm not throwing money away.
And since a 12-hour-very-expensive flight separates me and my boyfriend I need to save money, so in my blogger mind I thought doing empties posts would motivate me to use up all my products and save some money.

After this very uplifting morning here are my empties !

1. MAC Base Studio Fix Powder in NW35 : I've been using this product for years and years, since I was 15. I love this powder and since I don't use foundation everyday I just go with this when I'm going to class or something.
- Definately repurchase (every time I travel I get like 5 and I have 3 backups at the moment) and I totally recomend it.
*Don't forget to save you MAC empties for the Back to MAC.

2. MAC Base Studio Fix Powder in NC43 : This one was actually my sister's and she gave it to me because she wasn't that color anymore. I'm not either, but since I can't throw a product that is half full away I just used it to set my under eye concealer.
- Definately repurchase but it's a little too heavy for the under eye area.
*Don't forget to save you MAC empties for the Back to MAC.

3. La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 40 Fluide Extreme (sample size) : My sister is a doctor and one of her dermatologist friends got a bounch of this samples for us because they were going to expire soon. And I have to say they are amazing, the ones that we got were for oily skin. Also, since it's liquid product it absorves into your skin faster and doesn't leave that shiny appearence.
- Definately repurchase and I'm getting the big bottle after the samples finish.

4. MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in On the Hunt : I don't have anything bad to say about this eyeliner but it was nothing out of this world or a must have. it was simply good, but for the price I was expecting something amazing.
- I wouldn't repurchase just for the price. I think you can find better ones for a smaller price.
*Don't forget to save you MAC empties for the Back to MAC.

5. Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover : This one I got in a set along with a moisturizer, a toner and an eye cream. I didn't really like and I didn't think it takes the makeup off very well. You need to really rub it in and I don't want to be doing this in my eyes. But I'm saving the bottle to put my Bioderma when I travel. - the bottle is very good !
I wouldn't repurchase it.

6. Clean and Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer SPF 15 (Oil-free) : This has been my morning moisturizer forever. I love it and I think it's a great product to wear under your makeup in the morning and gives a small protection against the sun. But if you have really dry skin I wouldn't recommend it because it's a very light weight moisturizer.
- Definately repurchase and I already have a backup.

7. TRESemm√© Keratin Smooth Shampoo : I never see a lot of difference in my hair when I try different shampoos, but this one was a good one. Nothing spectacular. It says that it controls the frizz for 48 hours, I don't know about that !
- I would repurchase it in the future but now I'm using the Aussie one.

8. Nivea Gel Limpiador Facial : This one is in spanish because I bought it in Cancun (Oooh I miss Cancun !) since I didn't pack any face wash. It has some beads that exfoliate your face a little bit. It's pretty good and if I find it here in Rio de Janeiro I'll buy.
- Definately repurchase.

Now I can finally throw everything away and I'm feeling pretty good about myself ! What are your recent empties ??

And if you did a recent blog post or video about empties please let me know on the comments because I would love to check it out.

Thanks so much for reading !
