Talkin' Trash | May Empties Review.

It's that time of the month again.. It's Empties Time ! Ok, I'm probably the only person around here who gets excited with empties but I just can't help it. I just love the feeling of finishing up a product and knowing that I didn't waste money, and it also helps to get rid off the clutter in my room.

Ever since I've started my new minimalist approach to life I've been trying to make sure I'm using up everything I already have and that includes all the half used hair products I had in my bathroom featured here. I only have two makeup products this time, but given the time it takes me to finished them up I'm counting this as a success. #winning

Herbal Essence Smoothing Conditioner in "The Sleeker The Butter"

I love all Herbal Essence's products and if you haven't tried any, you're missing out. But talking about this conditioner is particular, I liked everything about it. I liked the price (super affordable), the scent and the way it lives my hair. It's super moisturizing and leave my hair sleek and shiny.

Pantene Pro-V Smooth Shampoo

I liked it, but it just didn't blow me away. It's a good everyday shampoo and you get a ton of product for the price which is nice. I always have a shampoo like this in my shower because I like to rotate shampoos because otherwise my hair gets used to a particular one.

Get it here !

Nivea Body Wash in "Cashmere Moments"

It's an OK body wash. Not very moisturizing like the Dove ones (which are still my favorite) but they also didn't strip my skin. I liked the scent. It claims to last up to 80 showers.. It didn't work out that way for me but maybe it's just because I put too much into my luffa.

Dove Pure Deodorant

I was struggling with deodorant, guys. I know it's not a common struggle but it was real to me. All the ones that I was trying were making my arm pits itchy and weird, so when I saw this one in drugstore I thought.. Why not give it a go ? It says on the bottle that it has no parabens and those other stuff that are supposedly bad for your skin.

I worked in the sense that my skin of no longer itching, but it didn't really keep the sweat and funky smells away.. Specially when I was working out. I overall liked it but I don't think it's very suitable for my lifestyle.

Garnier Fructis Nutrient Spray Triple Nutrition

I've had this for ages which is weird because it's actually a very good product. It's kind of a leave-in conditioner ish.. I don't really know how to explain it but it made my hair super smooth and shiny. I used this mainly on the days where I wanted to straighten my hair and it just made all the frizz go away.

Clean & Clear Morning Glow Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT, I think this is the fifth bottle that I've used up and it won't be the last. Right now I'm using a new moisturizer just try something new and I'm already regretting it. This just works so well under my makeup and it doesn't make me greasy or shiny throughout the day. The only downside to it is the SPF 15, just 'cause a higher protection.

Get it here !

Pupa Diva's Lashes Maxi Volume Mascara in Extra Black

I've gotten it two or three years ago in Europe so I thought it was time to throw it out. I haven't used it in a while, but from what I remember this is a very good mascara. It was the closest thing I've ever found as an alternative to fake eyelashes.

Want it ? Get it here !

Avon Ideal Flawless Concealer Stick in Medium

I seriously go through one of these every week. It's a great concealer in my opinion and it blends really well with the skin. Just make sure you set it with a powder and you're good to go.

Want it ? Get it here !

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about the products I've finished this month. Like I said, I really focusing on using up everything I have at the moment before purchasing more products.

What products did you use up this month ?

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Most Absent Blogger Award.

If this was a thing, I would win a new one every month for sure. Today I'm not gonna explain myself anymore, keep apologizing and promising that I will post more often because, let's face it, I won't. And it's not because I don't want to, it's because I physically cannot do more than what I'm already doing.

This past month my life went upside down. I went from being at home the entire day to being away the entire day. Some days I wake up at 5:50 a.m. and only arrive at 20:00 p.m., I don't want you guys to feel sorry for me because I'm actually really happy with the things that I'm doing, I just want you guys to understand and don't give up one me.

I had to finally accept that blogging is a hobby in my life and I have to treat it as such. There are more important things going on but I still don't want to give up on something that really makes me happy but I also don't want to stress about it, like I said.. This is supposed to make me happy, not to be an obligation. So, for now, I can only promise two posts a week since I'm not able to write and take pictures on week days and have to leave everything for the weekends.

I also want to share some exciting news. I think this Saturday, me and my friend are going to take some new pictures for the blog and I'll  also be doing some remodeling and redesigning soon which will be super exciting. I can't wait for you guys to see what we come up with !

Thanks so much for reading and for sticking around.

I really appreciate all of you.

First Date Tips.

I don't know if you'll remember but a couple of months ago I wrote a post about getting over a horrible breakup, which was inspired by a good friend of mine who had gone through a break up at the time. I'm happy to say that she is going on a date this week, it's her first date after her breakup and also her first date with the guy.

So before I start talking to you guys about my friend's dating life in depth (shout out to her for inspiring my posts) I decided it'd be fun to share some advice for some of you who might be going on a first date soon and even if you're not, hopefully, this knowledge will be useful in the future. This is literally all we've been talking about for the past week and I believe I have some pretty good insights to share.

First of all, I've not gone too many "dates". I don't know what's up with the guys from my town but it's not very often someone goes up to you and flat out invites you on a date. If my memory is not tricking me I believe I've gone to no more than 2 first dates in my entire life. Not even Sebastian (my boyfriend) invited me on a date, it all happened so quickly and when I realized I was already in a serious relationship.. Not that I'm complaining.

Now, I'm gonna stop rambling about my life and get right to the point.

Don't be late

I hate when people are late. I seriously can't stand if someone makes me wait, I just think it's disrespectful. My dad always said that the only thing you cannot make people waste is their time because you cannot pay it back (does this make sense ? I'm kinda translating it from Portuguese). So, specially if you're going a date, make sure you're not late and if something unexpected happens call or text explaining it.

Don't eat anything too messy

I mean, don't go for sushi or something with a lot of sauce and green ingredients that can be stuck on your teeth. I suggest you don't eat anything at all, since it's a first date you guys can perfectly go for a coffee or something. But if he invites you to dinner, try to eat something neutral.

Avoid going to the movies

I know a lot of people choose to go to the movies on first dates but I don't think it's a good idea. To me movies are quite awkward if you're not if someone you already know. You don't know if you should just watch the movie, hold hands.. I don't know.. The whole thing came become awkward and weird.

And also, you guys should somewhere you can talk, laugh and get to know each other. Like a coffee shop, going for a walk in the park or skip the movies and go straight to dinner. And if you really like the person and want to spend more time with them you can always have dinner in a restaurant and go somewhere else for drinks and desert.

Talk about safe topics

Please, do not start talking about how your childhood pet died, who you voted for in the last election or why you got fired from your previous job. Stick to the safe topics like school, work, movies you've watched recently, books.. Stuff you enjoy doing. To sum up, talk about positive and pleasant things.

You can get to all the other important stuff one the second or third date. For now, all you need to know is if the guy has a job (or is going to school or something), if he's not weird in a bad way (because everybody is weird some way or another) and if he treats you well.

First dates are for getting to know each other a little and decide if you want to know more about them or not. If you're scared of running out of things to talk about just use the best thing God has ever gifted us, social media. Stalk him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and try to figure out a couple of things he might be interested in and just bring it up CASUALLY during the conversation. DO NOT SAY YOU WERE STALKING HIM/HER.

Stay away from the phone

And try to have a normal conversation. I know that nowadays everyone is super attached to their phones but having your eyes glued to your phone is just rude and it shows that you don't care about what the other person is saying.

Let your friends know where you are

This specially applies if you just met the guy and don't know much about him. Also tell you friends his name and even give them his phone number, you can never be too careful. Probably nothing bad will happen but you never know

Try to have a good time

Don't over analyse everything he does and says and just try to be calm and enjoy your date. Be yourself.

Do you have any tips to share with us ?

Thank you so much for reading.

Book Review: In Too Deep by Mara Jacobs.

letmecrossover_blog_book_review_in_too_deep_mara_jacobs_recommendation
One of my favorite pastimes is to browse around the Amazon store and download some free books. I couldn't possibly read them all but since I started a new course and now I have to commute there everyday (we're talking about 1 to 1:30 hours in the bus) I started to use that time to read, and it took me just two days to finish it.

This book is about a couple, Lucas and Lilly, and the ups and downs of their relationship. She is a freshman in a prestigious college and comes from a very nice family and he's kind of the complete opposite. He comes from a small town, his mom is in rehab and he had problems with drugs in the past.

Lilly gives swim lessons as part of a program for children and they meet when Lucas comes to pick up his little brother. Apparently there's an immediate strong connection and their relationship evolves from there.

I had very mixed feelings towards this book. In a way I really liked it. I liked the college vibe, I liked some of the secondary characters and I think the author did a good job with the romance as whole and I really liked both of the main characters separately, which doesn't happen very often. I liked that Lilly was strong and not just a stupid college girl following the guy around.

I didn't really know from the beginning that there were some sexy scenes but that didn't really bother me since it wasn't overdone. Just keep that in mind if you're not into that since there are a couple of steamy scenes but then again, you can just read past them.

The only thing that bothered me was some particular parts of some dialogues. It just didn't look real and I know from living in the real world that people don't talk like that. I don't if you guys get it but.. Somethings just felt too forced and nobody expresses devotion to another person the first time they have sex. I don't know.. It just seemed odd and made me roll my eyes sometimes.

But overall it was a good book, not great and not bad. It was a solid 3 out of 5 starts for me and I don't regret reading. Apparently this is part of a trilogy (The Freshman Trilogy) and although I really enjoyed reading this one, I don't think I'll get to the rest of them just because I'm kind of over that "world" and I think I had enough from this characters.

I don't know if you'll still be able to get it for free on the Amazon store but it can't hurt to check. I would recommend it as a light afternoon reading on a lazy day.

If you wanna keep up with my reading progress and my Reading Challenge you can check my account on GoodReads which I'm constantly updating.

Have you ever read this book ?
What should I read next ?
Please leave any recommendations in the comments
as well as any thoughts about this review.
I really appreciate it.

Thanks so much for reading.

Links I'm Loving

Guys, today's post is going to be short and sweet because these past few days I've been a busy bee. Between finishing up all the requirements for graduation (and trust, there are a lot of them in my university), my new course and trying to go to the gym at least 4 days a week and I didn't even have time to do my nails last week.

But today is monday and we're starting fresh. I'm gonna try to put up at least two more post this week but I can't promise anything. I'm doing my best over here and I'm sure you guys understand.

Even though I've been super busy, I always have time for some internet browsing and YouTube watching at the end of each day.. It's my before bed ritual and it helps me relax so no judging. And since it has been a long time since I last shared the links I'm loving, I decided to do a new one today.

This one is a new find for me. Lately, I've been getting a lot of views from there and I decided to check it out. The way I see it, it's kind of like a Stumble Upon, where you check down your interested and they provide you with a bunch of cool website related to it. I've been having a lot of fun with it, so if you ever find yourself bored on a lazy afternoon, it's worth checking it out.

Whenever my life gets busy and I have a lot going on I always put on weight. So this time I've been fighting this like crazy and on the days I can't make it to the gym I go on YouTube and try to find some easy workouts to do at home.

All of you must already know that I'm a big fan of Blogilates, but this time I decided to change switch this up a bit and I found this video in Rachel Talbott's channel. I really enjoyed and let me know if you guys get the chance to try it out.

I don't know if you guys remember, but a couple of months ago I wrote a feature article there and I've been loving that website ever since. It has a bunch of cool articles and even some videos. Their main point is to promote a healthy body image and also empowering women everywhere. I don't know about you but I'm cool with that.. If you'd like to see the article I wrote for them you can click here and don't forget to leave a comment there, I'd love to know what you thought about it.

I'm in looooove with this website, but today I wanted to bring attention to this recipe in particular. This saturday I decided I wanted to eat something different but since it was so cold and raining, we didn't want to leave the house. So me and my sister gave this recipe a shot and it was delicious. You guys should definitely try it when you get the chance.

What have you been up to ?
Hoe you enjoyed this little post I just put together in the
library of my university whilst I should be studying.

Thanks so much for reading.

My Journey To Minimalism.

letmecrossover_blog_minimalist_lifestyle_minimalism_white_room_clean_space_declutter
source
First of all, I just wanted to say that I used the word "journey" on the title for the lack of a better word. I really don't like it when people refer to these types of things as a journey 'cause nobody is going anywhere around here. I'm just trying out a new thing and incorporating some new habits into my life to see how it goes.

I was first introduced to this lifestyle on the internet (just like anything else in my life) and after watching a couple of videos and reading some articles and blog posts I started to really get into it. I love the idea of just keeping the things that we actually use. That way we avoid waste (money wise as well), we can appreciate more the things that we do own and we can also help others by donating the extra things you don't need anymore.

This all started because I was feeling very overwhelmed with the things that I owned. One day I decided to clean up my desk and shelves and I menage to get rid off 3 trash bags of random stuff, from essays I wrote in middle school to 12 dried up markers. After that, I started to look around everything else that wasn't trash but I had no use for, like old text books and notebooks.

I couldn't justify in my head having 8 brand new notebooks that I would never get around to using so I decided to donate them. This "donating vibe" started to spread around my room and when I realized I was going through my clothes, shoes, old bags and even Victoria's Secret Body Mists (I had 12 of them, don't judge me).

But before you start thinking that I became a hippie and decided to go live in the woods, let me clear some things out.. I only got rid off the things that I haven't used for years and the things that I'm sure I will not use/need in the future. I still kept a lot of things, but I'm 100% sure I'll get a lot of use out of them.

I also tried something different with my beauty products. Since a lot of them are very expensive and almost full, I just couldn't throw them out. So I got all of the "extras" and the things that I didn't need at the moment and put them in a box under my bathroom counter. That way I don't have clutter in my closet anymore and I can replace the products as soon as I run out of them.

And guys, it feels so good. I love having a clean space and I can even think better. All the clutter is gone which makes everything easier. I no longer need 30 minutes to find something to wear in the morning or organize my room everything single day. Everything has a proper place now and I can make sure that I'm using my makeup/skin/hair products and know that they're not getting expired.

As for the things I've decided to part with, first I tried to find them a good home and see if my friends or family members wanted them. And for the things that they didn't want I donated to my local church where I know they will be able to find good homes for them as well. I also had a ton of old paper (old college papers and that kind of stuff) which I took to a recycling center in my neighborhood.

Recycling is also something I want to do more often. I live in an apartment and I know my building sorts out the trash and all of that but I'm not sure they take it to the a proper recycling place. I'll have to get back to you on that.

As you can see, I took minimalism and adapted to my own life. I'm not gonna throw away everything I own. My approach is focused on keeping around only what I know I'll use and from that try to cut down my buying/hoarding habits. Because to be honest, I don't need 3 different foundations, 15 lipsticks and 7 pairs of jeans (keeping in mind that those numbers are after I donated a lot of things). But I paid for them and I know I will use/wear them. So I'll just go through the things that I already have and make sure I won't make the same mistakes in the future.

I hope this made sense. Sometimes my brain works in mysterious ways and things only seem logical to me. But in case you're considering doing something like this and decluttering your life I think you should totally do it. If you're not using something I'm sure you'll find someone who needs it and who will really appreciate having it.

Let me know if you guys would like to see some updates showing the things I've been going throw and donating. I'm already planning on doing those so just make sure to tell me if you'd be interested in reading more about it.

What to do you think about this ? Do you think I'm insane ?

Thanks so much for reading.

I'm Back !

I'm finally back to blogging, guys ! Don't really know if anyone missed me but I sure missed you. When blogging became part of my schedule I started taking it for granted and only saw the hard work and time I had to put into it. This break made me realize how much I love having this little space to share my thoughts and explore my creativity.

Being a college student (not for long now), I have to say that sometimes I don't feel like my opinion matters that much since I'm only asked to reproduced someone else's thoughts in papers and whatnot.. But here I can talk about whatever I want and feel free to really share what's on my mind.

I didn't know if you guys were expecting a "normal post" or a little update of my time away so I opted for this chatty ramble and tomorrow we're going back to the swing of things since I finally got my life in order.

I decided not to take the English teacher position I've mentioned before because I'm extremely busy with my final dissertation and the new course I decided to take. This week was filled with required readings, sending out job applications and working on the dissertation.. Very boring, I know. The only fun thing I did was going to the mall by myself to buy some books that I needed and I did a little detour to Forever21 and also got myself some Chai Latte from Starbucks.

I promise that tomorrow's post is going to be a little more interesting. From now on we're going to stick to the schedule and I'm gonna to put up at least 3 posts every week. So, I guess that's all I had to explain to you guys.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow !

Taking A Break.

I didn't really want to write this post.. I tried to menage everything that has been going on in my life with the blog but it just got to a point where it was too much. I'm finishing up college and with that comes a lot of papers to write and applying for jobs. I just started a new course that requires a lot of reading and since it's so expensive I want to really take advantage of it and get as much as I can from it. On top of that I still need to be regular human. I need/want to go to the gym, go out with my friends and spend some time with my family.

I know that blogging is hobby and bla bla bla.. But I still feel like we have connection and you guys expect posts and some sort of commitment from my part and I want to give you all of those things. If I'm gonna blog I want to do it well and that's why I decided to take a little break.

I'm just taking a week off to get my life together and focus more on school work. So nobody needs to freak or anything.. I'll keep blogging as usual after this week and I even have some fun posts planned. If you wanna talk to me during this little break, I'm always available on social media.. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Let's chat over there !

I hope you guys understand and, hopefully, don't give up on me or my blog.

Thank you so much for reading and for all the support.

How I Come Up With Post Ideas.

letmecrossover_blog_creativity_blogging_process_writing_michele_mattos_post_ideas
Source
I don't know if you guys even remember it, but a while ago I went on a little rant over here about blog posts that give you lists of ideas for content. Since I'm a very opinionated person (that's how I like to describe myself) I wrote quite a lot of things and went off topic multiple times.

I've recently went back and read some of my older posts ('cause that's what I do when I can't sleep at night) and upon rereading it I realized that I rambled and went on and on into the issue without giving a viable solution.

So that's what I'm going to do here today. I decided it would be fun to share with you guys my creative process (that sounds waaay fancier than reality) and how I go about finding inspiration and turning it into new content for the blog. The whole thing is actually quite simple and if I got your hopes up thinking that I'll share some magical solution for "writers block" I'm deeply sorry.

Talk about you

I feel like I say this all the time but I can't stress this enough: Blogging is extremely PERSONAL. In my opinion the most important thing about blogging is the blogger's personality. Everything can be on point, from the design to the pictures, but if I don't like your personality or the way that you write I won't be sticking around.

And that is completely fine because we can't please everyone and you shouldn't pay too much attention to my opinion. Just because I'm not feeling your vibe doesn't mean the others won't and that's the beauty of it.

If I start following your blog is because I wanna know about you. I wanna know what you've been up to, I wanna know your opinion, I wanna know more about your sense of style and your favorite makeup products. So if you're going to at least take one thing from this post I want you to remember to be yourself and don't try to please everybody.

Talk about the world around

This goes on the same line as the previous topic. I take a lot of ideas from things that happening around me. For example, last month a very close friend of mine went through a terrible breakup so I wrote the post: How To Get Over A Terrible Breakup. See what I did there ?

Even if you feel like your life is not interesting enough to share it online (my case for example), maybe you have a friend who is super interesting, maybe a new store opened on your neighborhood or your cousin is going on vacation and share some awesome tips with you. Everything counts. There's always something going on around you and if there isn't make things happen. Which brings me to my next topic..

Have new experiences

This not so much a tip for blogging as well as for life. The time doesn't slow down when you're sitting on your bed wishing cool things would happen to you (I do this all the time). Get up, get out and try new things.. And after go home and write about them.

Browse the internet

I have a love and hate relationship with the internet. I hate how much I love it and it's becoming a problem. I spend so much time on it that I've actually started to share my finds on some posts named Links I'm Loving. I'm not telling you to do the same thing (if you want you can).. I'm telling you to go find some inspiration.

Read some blogs that you like, watch some videos and get the creative juices flowing. I always do a little browsing before writing my own posts because I follow I lot of cool blogs and they never fail to inspire me. Don't copy what they are doing.. Just get your juices flowing, leave a comment and go turn all that creativity into something cool, different and more you.

Wait, I even got a little confused reading what I just wrote so let me give you an example. Let's say someone wrote a post about their favorite summer pieces and they shared some really cool sunglasses that you love. You're obsessed with sunglasses and know all the tricks to find the perfect shape for your face. Do you see where I'm going with this ? You took something from what you just read and made it completely your own according to your skills. BOOM !

Share your opinion

This is my favorite. I love writing about things that I'm passionate about and sharing my own opinion. Some people might call me bitchy.. I see it as being opinionated. If you don't stand for something you'll fall for everything, right ? I think so too..

So just think about what you like ? What sparks your interest ? What did you think about the book you read last week ? What drives you crazy ? Last year, I was living with my parents and they were driving me absolutely insane so I wrote about that.

I completely understand when people say that they have some sort of block and can't come up with new ideas because once you've been creating content for years and years your brain can feel a little drained. It's not my case (I've only been blogging for a little over a year) but I get it, I feel this way sometimes with college papers and things like that. But if you think about it, you can write about everything and anything. From your childhood memories to what you put on your face in the morning.

And also, whenever you feel overwhelmed and like you have nothing else on your brain "blog worthy" just take a break. We all feel like this sometimes and a break may be exactly what you need to let your creativity flourish.

How do you come up with post ideas ?
What do you like to read about ?

Thanks so much for reading.

Why I Don't Like Morning Routine Videos.

I'm sure plenty of you guys have already watched one or two "routine" videos on the YouTubes. I have to say that in the beginning I actually liked them, it was kind of fun to see what kind of products the girls used in the morning and whatnot.

But them the "routine fever" started and the majority of videos I found in my subscription feed were Spring Morning Routine, Fall Morning Routine, Winter Morning Routine, Summer Morning Routine, Lazy Morning Routine, Not-so-lazy Morning Routine.. And the list goes on and on. Switch the "morning" for "night time" and you get a list of endless video ideas.

I don't want to be hating over here but, honestly..  Who has time (and money) to switch up products based on the season ? Ain't nobody got time for that ! I mean.. I get it if you use a different moisturizer in the winter times but changing an entire line of products ?! I just don't get it.

So, the reason I don't like this type of video is because they're not real or relatable. I think this is one of my major problems with the YouTube beauty community.. It just comes to a point where the things you see are so staged and "perfect" that it looses the fun.

I know that no one is going to record themselves actually waking up tired and "zombie-like" with an oily face.. And I'm not expecting that, really. I just want a little more honesty and a little more reality. Nobody changes their face wash according to the weather or eat a perfectly assembled yogurt parfait with berries in the morning. Am I the only one who has noticed that this is the go-to breakfast youtubers seem to eat ?

My morning routine is more like: waking up tired, drinking coffee and eating toast, washing my face and brushing my teeth and applying some sort of makeup concoction on my face because I have things to do and places to be. I don't have time to assemble a cute breakfast, style my hair and watch videos in the morning. I wish I had. I really wish I had.

So if you're also a busy bee trying to get a college degree or maintain a job don't feel left out of the club. You're the real winner. We're real girls who still menage to look presentable with a "nine-to-five" job and other things going on. Differently than current belief, you don't need to change all your skincare products according to the weather.. In my opinion you just need to change your moisturizer.

I also don't want you guys to get me wrong. I love YouTube and I am subscribed to more beauty channels than I can count.. There are just a couple of things that bother me when it comes to certain aspects of it. Everybody has their own opinion and I'm eager to know yours.

What do you think about this ?

Thank you so much for reading.

Life Lessons #1: It's Okay To Be Sad.

Last week I self-diagnosed myself with depression. I was feeling a little off, sad and not motivated. I didn't feel like getting out of bed and was feeling super tired the entire day. So what do you do when you're feeling down ? You search for motivational videos on YouTube to try to make yourself feel better, at least that's what I did.

I have to admit that although I really wish it was the case, the internet is not the cure to all of our problems. I mean.. Don't get me wrong, some of those videos really helped but they didn't quite solve the problem and to be honest I don't think that there's is a solution to this matter because we're never going to feel happy all the time. And that doesn't mean we are depressed. And you should never self-diagnose yourself, that's why we have doctors.

After having a long discussion with a very close friend of mine and also getting some input on it from a more experienced mind (my mom) I've come to the simple conclusion that sometimes, it's okay to be sad. We don't own to anyone to feel anything less than exactly what we're feeling at the moment. And if you're feeling sad, there's nothing wrong with that.

We all have crappy days, weeks, months and even years. Sometimes life hits harder than we were expecting and gives us more than we can handle. And I know that it's not fair but life is not always fair, it's just life and we have to learn how to deal with it, some things we can change, some things we have control over but some other things are unexpected and that can be good or bad. To simplify it in a very philosophical line: "it is what it is".

So given this whole unexpected side of life, some people seek for comfort in the most unexpected ways. I find comfort in religion and in the thought that God never gives us more than we can handle and that, somehow (do not ask me how), He is always watching over us no matter what.

Although that seems to be working for me, I know that religion and faith are very abstract things and it doesn't work for everyone. But the one thing you need to keep in mind is that a bad choice or a bad event (or whatever it is that is bringing you down) doesn't get to decided whether or not you're going to have a good or a bad day. Things happen, we process them, we feel all the feels that come with that and we move on.

Although it's more than okay to be feel sad sometimes you should never let these feelings control your life because you're going to miss out on other amazing things if you do.

You should keep in mind that I'm talking about regular sad days that we all have throughout our lives. I know some people deal with much worst conditions and that depression is something way more serious than this so if you feel like that's the case for you, you should definitely seek professional help and talk to an adult you trust, even if you're already an adult.

How do you deal with sad days ?
Please feel free to leave me your feedback and
answers on the comments.
I really like when my posts start a discussion and
I'm really looking for to reading you opinions.

E-Book Haul.

I have a problem when it comes to buying it books. It always happens late at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. I get the kindle. Start browsing around the Amazon store. And it the morning I magically have five or six new eBooks in my kindle library.

In my defense they are mostly cheap or even free in some cases 'cause I like to give self-published books a try once in a while and I also enjoy downloading some public domain classics. I don't always get around to reading all of the books I get but I do my best and it's always to have some options for the times when you go through a reading slump.

I also prefer to read book on my kindle (I know.. shocking!) 'cause it makes me read faster and I live in a small apartment, guys. I can't possibly fit all the books that I read/buy in my tiny and already full bookshelf. Please, don't judge me.

Let's get to the haul!

Andromeda by Amy Bartelloni

I got this one for free and since I got it recently I'm pretty sure it's still free in the Amazon store. I already read the first chapter and I'm really liking it so far. From what I've read, the story is set on a distant future where some kind of infection killed a lot of people and we follow to sister trying to survive or something like that. It's actually way better than I was expecting it to be since it was free so if you are fan of the whole dystopian world thing you should definitely give it a try.

Dracula by Bram Stoker
This book is my attempt to read more classics. It was free (public domain) and a lot of people said good things about it so I decided to try it out. I've read a couple of pages already and I have to admit that I'm not liking it very much but I will finish and tell you guys my thoughts after.

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
I became a fan of Gillian Flynn after Gone Girl and Dark Places. So when I've heard that Sharp Objects is even better I had to give it a try. I think I'll start this one next because I'm already in the process of reading six books and I think seven is just too much. Apparently, six books is my limit.

Under The Dome by Stephen King
This book is crazy big. Seriously, we're talking about 1000 and plus pages. I started to watch the TV show (amazing, btw) last month and I since I really liked the story I decided to get the book. But I only saw the amount of pages after I bought it so I'm not sure when I'll get around to it but I will.

Someone in the comments of a previous post recommended this one to me and I decided to give it a try. I set out a goal to read more classics this year and it looks like something I would be interested in. It's also not very long and the estimated time for reading is about 3 hours, does anyone else checks the estimated time for reading before actually reading the book ?

Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder
It was cheap and the cover looked nice. That's all I have to say in my defense.

Into The Deep by Mara Jacobs
It was free. My mom's name is also Mara. The cover looked nice. That's all I needed to get this one.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Can we just take a moment and appreciate her name? I'm totally naming my first daughter Rainbow, so that's happening. I've been wanting to read a book by her for so long and  decided to start with this one. I haven't seen any negative reviews of this book on the internet so I have really high expectations for this one. I let you know what I think about it after I read it.

I got a total of nine books and I know it will take me a while to actually read them but you can't never have too many books, right ? This year with the Reading Challenge I got back to the habit of reading and I'm really happy about it. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed reading and having great book in my TBR list keeps me motivated. At least, that's how I justified buying them.

What are you currently reading ?
Please enable my book buying addiction and
leave me some suggestions.

Thank you so much for stopping by and now get out of the
internet and go read a book !

Life Update | What's Going On In My Life.

Hello everyone !

I know have not been posting as frequently as I usually do (or as I want to) but my life has been a little too crazy lately. I know what's up with me but I feel like some months I have absolutely nothing going on and stay in the house in my pajamas and then the universe shifts and all the fun events decide to happen in the spam of just two weeks. Does anybody else feel that way ?

But anyhow, the past in the past and since it's the First of May and most of you have the day off (like me) I decided it was the perfect day to do a life update and to share some of the things I'm looking forward to in the near future.

Don't worry, I wont bother you anymore with my doubts about blogging. I decided to take Elsa's advice and just let it go. What's supposed to happen will happen and worrying about it now won't make things better.

First things first, yesterday I had a job interview. YEEEEY for me. I have been looking for a job for soooo long and you guys have no idea how good it is to finally get some positive feedback. I applied for a teaching position in a English academy and now I'm waiting for them to call me and let me know when I start training.

Another good thing is that I'm planning to travel next weekend. Nothing fancy, it's just me and a friend of mine doing a little road trip to São Paulo (which is a big city close to Rio de Janeiro). We just thought it would be a good idea to get a away for a weekend. Some new restaurants opened there recently, like Olive Gardner and Red Lobster, and since we are missing the US we decided to pay them a visit. So there's lots of eating and shopping in our schedule.

Since I've been quite busy this past week I have not been working out as often as I wanted to too. I've only made it to the gym 3 times this week and although I haven't gained any weight I still feel kinda bad. I don't know.. It's just something I got used to and now I'm missing it. But unfortunately, the gym is closed today but I'm planning on going for a run later which will have to count as my work out of the day.

For those of you who are wondering about my April Goals and if I accomplished them all I have some bad news for you guys.. I completely failed this month. I totally forgot about them in the beginning of the month because I was super busy with my final dissertation for school and had to meet some deadlines. And after that life became a little mess with doctor appointments and the whole process of looking for a job and all.

But today is the beginning of another month and I'm giving myself a chance to start things over with a clean slate. My May Goals will be up next after this post, maybe on Sunday and I'll make sure to write them down on my planner so I can keep track of them.

I've also been doing this things where I make sure that every single day I do something towards my goals in life. It doesn't have to be anything drastic but just little steps that will count in the future. This has been helping me with my anxiety and my constant fear that I'm not growing or progressing in life. This has made me realize that accomplishing my goals will not be easy but they won't be impossible either.. I just have to keep swimming.

I wanna know what's up with you ?
And I'm not just saying that, I really wanna know. Let us know on the comments something cool that happened in your life in April and something that you're looking forward to.

Thank you so much for reading.
