Achieving Your Goals Until The End Of 2017.

Heeello, everyone!

Well, it's officially October. Time has flown by and the year is almost over. I can't believe it! But, hey! You still have time to accomplish everything you set out to do this year. The year is almost over, but it's not over yet. Now is the time to buckled down and get serious about your goals because three months might be enough, but we don't have any time to spare! We need every single day we got!

I wanted to put together this post because I also have a few loose ends myself. I haven't crossed everything from my goals list, but I'm getting there. Now is the time of the year I usually get unmotivated. I start think there's no point in even trying anymore, but I'm wrong. I know for a fact I'm wrong, so let's do this together. I'm a firm believer that most things in life are actually quite easy: you want something, you ask for it. You sit down and apply for that job, you fill out your college application, you just do what you gotta do. 

We create all these boundaries and excuses to not do the things we want to because we're scared. I get it, but I still do it because.. Well, I'm scared and being scared is scary. It's hard to take the plunge and it's hard to put yourself out there and ask for what you want, but that's what life is all about. Being scared is normal and it's expected. Big changes are daunting and they will always be daunting until you actually go through it and realize that it wasn't that bad or that it actually was horrible, but you survived to tell the tale. 

So, that's what we're doing here today. We're taking plunges and we're going for it. You don't have to do anything alone, this stranger on the internet is here to virtually hold hands with you and cheer you on. I divided this post in five steps just to.. make it less scary. I hope this helps and I truly hope you're able to get over whatever it is that's stopping you.

STEP ONE // Sit down and write everything down.
This is step one for a reason, it's the most important one. You need to know what your goals are in order to achieve them, right?! Now is the time to go back to your planner or find that piece of paper where you wrote down your goals in January and think about them. Read them over and over again, see if you still want to pursue those goals and figure out if you still think they're what's best for you. This is going to be hard, but a lot can change in a year and it's more than ok to change paths and try something new. I usually advice people to start small and take baby steps, but in this case you need to start big. This might take a while... that's why I told you to sit down!

STEP TWO // Make a schedule.
Now that you have your goals figured out, you're gonna need a different schedule or if you didn't have one in the first place, now is the time to make one. Keep in mind that we only have 3 more months in the year, so be realistic. If you want to include next year in the schedule, that's cool too. Now is the time to create a strategy that works for you and you're the only one who can do that. I'd suggest writing it down in a piece of paper and putting it somewhere you look at everyday, maybe your bathroom mirror. We don't have much time left and you're gonna have to make everyday count. You already got sidetracked, now you need to focus.

STEP THREE // Start with the easiest or most urgent.
I love to start with the easiest and take baby steps, that's what works for me. If I tackle the most important thing in my to-do list first, I get tired and unmotivated if I'm not able to cross it off. However, if a goal of yours has a deadline, like maybe you need to send out an application or something, you should definitely start with that. If you don't feel like you're ready, than you can push it to next year. Just keep in mind that we rarely feel ready to make big changes, we just do it, so figure out if you're truly not ready or if you're just scared. Time is of the essence and you need to pick goals you're going to pursue now, you don't have time to be on the fence anymore - you've been doing that for 9 months.  

STEP FOUR // Focus on what you can control.
Say you want to apply for an exchange program or a new job this year, the only thing you can control is your application and the fact that it will get where it needs to get in time. You can't control the people responsible for hiring you and you can't control your getting into that program. This is good life advice, actually. You can only control your part in the process and that's enough. You work very hard on your application or your resume, you send it out and you hope for the best. I strongly believe that life has a way of working itself out and if you're constantly doing something and trying out different doors when one seems to be locked at the moment, you'll eventually get where you're supposed to be. Freaking out won't speed up the process and it won't help anything. Do your part and chill!

STEP FIVE // Do something everyday towards your goals.
This is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given me and I think about it everyday. I actually write it down every Monday on my planner so I can look at it everyday of the week. No one achieves big things in a day, you need to keep at it every. single. day. Write it down if you have to. Like I said before, a lot can happen in a year. You can get sidetracked, you can loose focus or you can keep pushing it off because you're scared (I may or may not do that sometimes.) So, write this down so you don't loose focus and let's get to it!

All that planning and all that scheduling won't do any good unless you actually do something. Doing something is always the worst part, the beginning is always the worst part, you just have to suck it up and do it. If it makes you feel any better, we're all in this together. We're all struggling and we're all scared of taking the plunge, but you kinda have to just do it. If you fail, you try again. Humans are living up to 100 years now, unless you're 95, you still have plenty of time.
